Engineering Technologist

Our client has engaged us to assist them in hiring a contract Engineering Technologist II. Responsibilities

• Review daily Maximo Work Management System for new and updated customer-facing work orders
• Contact customers via phone, email, or text to address questions and concerns within one business day
• Arrange and conduct on-site customer visits to take field notes and develop design sketches for new electric service installations, including primary and secondary voltage equipment.
• Estimate costs for customers prior to service where applicable
• Oversee construction issues from scheduling through meter installation resolution
• Adhere to safety protocols requiring PPE such as hard hats, EH safety shoes, leather gloves for staking, and traffic vests
• Work a standard 40-hour workweek, with possible storm-related overtime opportunities in scout or damage-assessor roles
• Provide technical expertise to solve complex problems and guide work within area of expertise with some supervision
• Prepare detailed technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches
• Conduct engineering studies and continuously improve technical and professional skills
• Develop positive working relationships and maintain accurate records
• Support company goals and represent the organization professionally

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology or equivalent, OR Associate Degree plus 4 years' experience, OR 6 to 10 years of equivalent experience without a degree
• Electric utility industry experience with distribution focus
• Experience collaborating with builders and handling customer billing for distribution work
• Proficient in designing substations using CAD tools
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds
• Basic understanding of project management principles
• Willingness to work onsite 3 days per week in a hybrid schedule
• Ability to travel locally for site visits using a personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed)
• Commitment to safety and use of required PPE
