Job Responsibilities
- Design and Release Engineer (DRE) - Driveline & Axle
- Hybrid - 4 days onsite in, Auburn Hills, MI, USA; 1 day remote
- 12-month contract.
- Pay range: $42-$45/hr.
- Benefits and PTO offered.
- The DRE will be responsible for the complete design and product delivery of driveline and axle components, ensuring alignment with technical requirements and program milestones. This role involves collaboration with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to ensure robust engineering solutions and timely delivery.
- Lead design and delivery of driveline & axle components and subsystems.
- Develop subject matter expertise and mentor junior engineers.
- Act as the primary engineering contact for suppliers.
- Manage supplier deliverables, test plans, and execution.
- Conduct advanced simulations and analyses of actuation mechanisms.
- Execute engineering deliverables per product development processes.
- Develop DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, and support DRBTR and DRBFM activities.
- Deliver EBOMs, CAD models, and drawings.
- Support pilot builds, manufacturing, and warranty resolution.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives and root cause analysis.
- Conduct Layered Process Audits at supplier sites.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred).
- 5+ years in automotive or product engineering design and validation.
- 3+ years in transmission, driveline & axles.
- Strong understanding of vehicle architecture and manufacturing processes.
- Proficient in MS Office, NX/CATIA, DFMEA, DVP&R, GD&T.
- Experience with CAN communications, CAE/CFD, and electric motors.
- Green/Black Belt in Shainin or DFSS preferred.
- Knowledge of Stellantis systems is a plus.
- Fluent in English; Italian or French is a plus.
- Willingness to travel (<10%) to suppliers in Southeast MI and Canada GTA.
