Electric Vehicle Calibration Engineer

Job Responsibilities
- Compensation (Range): $37-$39 / hour
- The Hybrid Electric Vehicle Calibration Engineer is responsible for leading calibration development of an assigned function items in the Electric Vehicle Control Unit (EVCU) from first dyno, into early mule vehicle to production on the next generation of xHEV Propulsion Systems. The scope of responsibility spans the application and optimization of control systems into production for xHEV Propulsion Systems. The calibrator will document and justify all EVCU calibration changes through rigorous development and test plans. The calibrator will present and justify changes to lead calibrator and Sr. management as appropriate.
- The calibrator will participate or lead the Center of Excellence team for their functional areas. They will review any new calibrations in their area, work with other calibrators and controls engineers to ensure initial values for new calibrations are correct by reviewing software change requests in the new release (performed at each new SW release). They will coordinate calibration merges with other functional leads. They have production release responsibility for the EVCU SW and Calibrations.
- They will support dyno commissioning and first-run activities. They will work closely with EVCU controls team to ensure features are working sufficiently and efficiently. They will provide training to all new calibration engineers and/or anyone else needing training on the operation of ePT vehicles and controls. They will support trips and report activities for Sr. Management. They will work with the CoE teams to ensure best practices are followed. They will be the lead contact point for system issues in their functional area.
- This individual will have also demonstrated the ability to work will with others. They must be a team player, supporting and promoting team accomplishments versus personal achievement.
- System and Cross Feature Calibration and Validation - ex. Drive modes, System SOC Management, range estimation, EOL, HMI, etc.
- First run support for HIL, Dyno and vehicle properties
- Lead validation of PCR package identifying HW/SW/Calibration deficiencies prior to Hard release
- FE/Emissions support - dyno support, data review, issue/vehicle triage
- Lead development trips to support development and meet program milestones
- Data Summary from trip, daily drives and fleet to support calibration maturity for QGs
- AVL Drive Testing - Scheduling, triage lead and implementation of improvements
- Support all issue resolution - GIMs, IMS, etc.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related degree
- Minimum of 1 Years calibration experience
- Good oral and written communication skills with the ability to work independently and with others
- High level of analytic ability and creativity
- Ability to balance work effectively on multiple issues
- Action a disciplined test plan and verification process to ensure quality calibrations are released.
- Must have strong knowledge of the Powertrain system.
- Knowledge of control system development tools such as Matlab and Simulink
- Knowledge of Calibration tools INCA, MDA, PowerCal, CRETA, CANAlyzer and CANoe
- Minimum of 3 Years calibration experience
- Experience in Powertrain Control solutions development (powertrain control algorithms, On-board Diagnostics/OBD, embedded software)
- Knowledge of fundamentals of eMachines and Power Electronics and electrification power flow
- Experience in engine/transmission design and development and/or Powertrain Systems Engineering
- Masters Degree in Engineering
- Additional Must Haves:
- CTC - 100% onsite
- Travel - 20% - multiple locations within US - based on the type of testing.
- Driving a Stellantis vehicle will be required.
