Hourly pay range $ 34-40
Job Responsibilities
Your specific duties as a Buyer (Chemical Commodity) will include:
- Due to recent tariff-related shifts, the company has transitioned key procurement activities from China to the U.S.
- We are seeking a highly skilled and driven Buyer III to join our high-performing team and manage chemical commodities including tires, rubber, glass & fluids, plastics, seats, filtration and acoustics, and interior/exterior plastics
- Lead procurement activities from initial analysis through to contract signature (contract execution handled by manager)
- Perform data science and analytics to support sourcing decisions
- Conduct supplier negotiations, market tests, and technical reviews
- Manage surcharge and payment resolution processes
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure quality and forecast alignment
- Support cost reduction initiatives and new product cost establishment
- Participate in design and technical reviews
- Read and interpret blueprints and specifications
- Navigate web-based systems for technical and logistical information
- Drive WMF (Waste Minimization Fund) mitigation efforts
Job Requirements - Experience: Minimum 5 years in chemical commodities; preference for 8-12 years
- Skills:
- Mandatory: SAP and advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros)
- Strong background in procurement, supply chain, or purchasing (global experience preferred)
- Ability to perform technical reviews and quality assessments
- Logistical and blueprint comprehension
- Soft Skills: Self-starter, fast learner, thrives in high-demand environments
