Hourly pay range $ 43-45
RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Powertrain Controls Engineer is responsible for new feature development, and enhancements to existing algorithms.
- The Powertrain Controls Engineer - Senior will work closely with a cross functional team, utilizing various tools (vehicle, HIL, Dyno, Virtual, rapid prototyping) through the V-model development process to ensure quality and robustness of the production algorithms.
- Interface with systems and calibration to fully understand the requirements'
- Develop implementation strategies
- Assess and document the impacts against regulatory requirement
- Markup models to ensure the design meets functional/operational requirements
- Validate the design during the production process
- Ensure project is on track by developing plans, track progress, and present technical report to management and project chiefs
- Participate in the decision making process on controls strategy design to achieve functional objectives
- Will be involved in developing controls strategies related to strategic optimization of engine speed, gear, powertrain state, engine torque optimization, and tactical torque controls for drivability management, brake regeneration controls and hybrid shift execution strategies.
- The ideal candidate should have a strong background in modeling of mechanical transmission systems and be familiar with using lever analogy principles for determining dynamic torque and speed relations used extensively across hybrid torque controls.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering is required from an accredited University.
- 5-8 years of engineering work experience with a Bachelors degree / 3-5 years experience with a Masters Degree
- Should be knowledgeable in MATLAB/Simulink.
- Should be knowledgeable in Powertrain systems - specifically, computer based tools and process based development, and calibration refinement.
- Embedded software experience desirable.
- Electronic module/system experience desirable.
- Outstanding interpersonal and problem solving skills.
- Quick study who is passionate about his/her work and willing to go above and beyond.
- Self-starter who is able to work cross-functionally with other people.
- UPDATE: No driving Stellantis vehicle required
- Specialization in classical and modern control disciplines with vehicle application
- Embedded software experience
- Experience with model-based development tools such as MATLAB/SIMULINK
- Experience with data acquisition and analysis tools such as ETAS-INCA
- Experience with modeling, simulation, development, testing, calibration and/or validation
- Onsite ARDC
PREFREED QUALIFICATIONS
- Electrical Engineering degree
- High Voltage Battery or High Voltage powertrain experience * Experience with Electronic System level troubleshooting and embedded controls/complex function root cause analysis.
- Understanding of diagnostics fundamentals
- Extensive knowledge and hands on use of INCA, CDA, CAN, CANalyzer, Canoe, and other Electrical root cause tools (such as oscilloscopes, etc.)
