Job Responsibilities
Your specific duties as a Technical Specialist will include:
- The Technical Assistant II is responsible for managing the processing of pole attachment requests for CATV, Telephone, Telecom, and Governmental entities to attach, remove, or adjust equipment on company poles across all DEC territory (North Carolina and South Carolina).
- This role involves high-volume data entry and requires working closely with Joint Use Engineering Contractors and company to ensure requests are completed accurately and within FCC timelines.
- The position involves processing approximately 200-300 joint use permits per month, with each specialist handling around 150.
- Responsibilities include verifying territory alignment and entering data into various applications.
- The role demands strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and proficiency in business communication.
- Facilitate communication with engineers, contractors, and other utilities to complete tasks.
- Maintain and update data in Maximo, PeopleSoft, JUMS, ARGUS, and Spida according to established procedures.
- Create and process invoices for MakeReady and Engineering Charges in Maximo or PeopleSoft.
- Process contractor invoices for payment.
- Review and develop correspondence, reports, invoices, schedules, and technical documentation.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of work produced by self and others.
- Make appropriate modifications and recommendations as needed.
- Perform routine, detail-oriented tasks in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
- Build positive working relationships to coordinate work activities effectively.
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
- Maintain accurate records and files.
Job Requirements - Associate degree in a technical field
- In lieu of an associate degree, a high school diploma/GED and 2 years of related work experience
- High-volume data entry is a core part of the role.
- Must ensure requests are within territory and properly entered into systems.
- Expected workload increase over time.
- Strong communication with engineers and contractors
- Invoicing and billing experience in PeopleSoft (preferred)
- Quick learner and detail-oriented
- Professional writing skills
- Ability to multitask and work independently
- Intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, spreadsheet manipulation)
- Maximo, PeopleSoft, JUMS, ARGUS, and Spida (training available; not required)
- Excel proficiency
- Strong communication skills
- Detail-oriented work style
