Production Supervisor

Hourly pay range $ 44-46

RESPONSIBILITIES
- First-line supervisor of a small sized group of hourly employees in a parts distribution center/ materials warehouse.
- Responsible for prompt shipment and/or receipt of parts by efficient utilization of labour and equipment. Work consists of a number of involved clerical and manual operations with decisions made within the limits of general practices and procedures.
- Volume of work serves as a check on productivity.
- Promotes safety and good housekeeping practices utilizing safety management system
- Maintain awareness of quality standards, communicate department quality goals and leverage resources to solve quality issues
- Maintains prompt shipment and short lead time flow receiving.
- Maintains records to track and improve departmental performance
- Trains, develops and evaluates employees
- Keeps abreast of parts distribution center performance reports and cost
- Understands and consistently administers policies and procedures
- Motivate, train and develop employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods
- Responsible for meeting production schedules, product quality requirements and personnel allocation
- Participates in forward planning activities, maintains departmental Business Plan Deployment (BPD) boards, continuously improve team performance in all aspects of the business.
- The supervisor will be rotating on both day shift and afternoon shift
- Manage dynamic planning due to unpredictable supplier delivery schedules.
- Oversee three operational zones: small parts, mid-size parts, and large parts.
- Responsible for resource allocation across zones and tracking productivity metrics (e.g., hours worked, parts placed, bins split/emptied).
- Lead safety activities, conduct safety tours and investigations, and address safety concerns.
- Set and lead meetings, deliver training, manage follow-up actions
- Systems & Tools
- GMS (Global Manufacturing System): Used for management and administrative tasks. Training will be provided; prior experience is preferred but not required.
- Mainframe Inventory System: Used for inventory management. Experience with this system is highly preferred.
- Microsoft 360: Basic proficiency required.
- Team & Collaboration
- Strong emphasis on teamwork and shared workload among supervisors.
- Must be able to handle high-stress situations and help stabilize operations when needed.
- Will have a visible presence on the shop floor.
- Morning shift currently has 1 supervisor; afternoon has 2. Goal is to have 2 supervisors per shift for better support.
- Direct reports:
- Day Shift: 14 employees
- Afternoon Shift: 16 employees (7 part-time), split between two supervisors
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be fluently Bilingual (verbal and written in English and French) This is an absolute requirement
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees and elicit work output
- Proficiency in team building and demonstrated ability to manage a warehouse utilizing lean principles of waste elimination and continuous improvements.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and plan
- Warehouse background helps
- College degree and/or equivalent work experience
