Planner
Position: Facilities Planner/Designer
Location: Detroit, MI 48226
Pay: $30-$35
Hybrid - Onsite at least 3 days per week
Role Overview
The Facilities Planner/Designer is responsible for managing interior space projects, including planning, design, layout, and utilization of space, while aligning with organizational goals and future operational needs. This role maintains inventories of facility space and furnishings, establishes space and furniture standards, and assists in defining aesthetic design criteria for new and renovated buildings.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop plans for space allocation and utilization; design and coordinate layouts to meet operational requirements.
- Arrange changes in floor space to accommodate new furniture, equipment, and accessories, including necessary utilities (telephones, computers, electrical).
- Create concepts and oversee design/fabrication of new equipment, furniture, and furnishings; collaborate with manufacturers for custom pieces and cost estimates.
- Ensure compliance with organizational standards for space and design.
- Prepare layouts and select furniture and finishes that complement building aesthetics.
- Assemble and manage internal/external project teams to achieve project goals.
- Prepare plans and specifications for bidding documents.
- Assist with surveys and forecasting for long-range and master space planning.
- May support non-related construction projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Facility Management, or Interior Design (preferred).
- 3-5 years of architectural/facilities planning experience under supervision of an architect or in a large corporate environment.
- Proficiency in CAD MicroStation; strong PC skills.
- Experience with Autodesk Revit (preferred).
