Hourly pay range $60-$65

Job Summary
The Senior Operating Specialist is responsible for maintaining the reliability, safety, and security of the electric system. This role acts as a key liaison between operations, generation, substations, engineering, and service teams. The Coordinator leads and organizes cross-functional groups to manage both routine and complex situations, develops operating procedures, and supports continuous improvements in operational effectiveness.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct and coordinate teams to resolve conflicts and interpret rules that support the operation of the electrical system.
  • Organize cross-functional teams to address unique, complex, or recurring issues affecting efficient operation.
  • Develop and suggest work instructions and restoration plans for both planned and emergent work on the electrical system.
  • Identify work bundling opportunities at the asset level and develop coordinated work plans to ensure shutdowns are planned, assessing risks to the electrical system.
  • Work closely with the system study engineer and project scheduler to ensure accuracy of the long-term shutdown schedule.
  • Organize and lead huddle and shutdown schedule review meetings.
  • Organize and lead cross-functional team meetings, especially for complex and consecutive shutdowns in the same areas or regions.
  • Champion continuous improvement (CI) initiatives focused on shutdown optimization and effective coordination of resources.
  • Attend operations committee meetings and advise on recommended practices regarding cross-functional safety.
  • Provide feedback on operating articles and documents to safely achieve corporate objectives.
  • Ensure system operations personnel understand and execute their authority to safely restore customers as quickly as possible.
  • Reviews contingency plans for complex projects.


Requirements:

  • Ten years of operational experience with advanced knowledge of electric generation, transmission, and distribution systems including:
  • Advanced knowledge of installation, operation, and maintenance of high voltage electrical equipment used in electric utility substations.
  • Advanced knowledge of installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical equipment used on overhead and underground electric utility systems.
  • Experience as either a System Operator, Power Dispatcher, or electric utility electrical equipment operator.
