Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Design and Release Engineer to join our Driveline & Axle Product Release Center. In this role, you will own the development, design, analysis, release, and testing of a range of driveline and axle components, working closely with suppliers and internal teams. You will ensure that all components meet rigorous technical requirements, manage projects from concept through validation, and play a key role in product quality and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the complete design and delivery of assigned driveline and axle components, such as axles, RDM, PTU, T-Case, prop shafts, and brackets.
  • Develop expertise in selecting driveline components or assemblies and coach junior engineers as needed.
  • Act as the primary contact for supplier product engineering and manage supplier activities, deliverables, and test plans.
  • Prepare and execute engineering work plans based on project timing and milestones.
  • Perform and document advanced analyses, simulations, and technical evaluations for actuation mechanisms.
  • Develop and document technical requirements, source package documentation, and best practice evaluations for assigned components.
  • Conduct supplier design reviews and ensure lessons learned are captured and applied.
  • Lead the development and execution of DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, and failure mode analyses.
  • Coordinate test procedures, acceptance criteria, and validation plan for components and assemblies.
  • Deliver models, EBOMs, drawings, prototype requisitions, and support pilot builds.
  • Generate and manage engineering documentation for change management processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address design issues or failures.
  • Prepare status updates and presentations for management and other stakeholders.
  • Support manufacturing teams on production-related issues and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Generate and implement cost reduction ideas and participate in warranty/cost reduction investigations.
  • Travel up to 20% for supplier visits and audits, including occasional plant visits or vehicle operation.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in product engineering, ideally with driveline or axle components.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • At least 2 years of experience in automotive design, validation, or engineering with OEM or supplier; outstanding recent graduates with relevant knowledge considered.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle architecture, manufacturing, and quality processes.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (NX and/or CATIA); experience with CAE/CFD is a plus.
  • Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Proficient in MS Office; strong project management and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and suppliers simultaneously.
  • Prior experience in technical program management.
  • Must be able to travel up to 20% (local and international as required).
  • Must have advanced English skills (written and verbal); knowledge of Italian or French is a plus.
  • Experience with CAN communications and electric motor applications is desirable.
  • Valid driver's license: occasional driving of company vehicles required.
