Hourly pay range $27-$30

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician to join our engineering maintenance and technical support team at a leading automotive test facility. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and calibrating equipment that supports vehicle emissions testing. You will work in a clean, climate-controlled laboratory environment and contribute to ensuring accurate and reliable emissions data.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical systems in emissions testing facilities, including drive systems, fuel systems, dynamometers, pumps, heaters, and heat exchangers
  • Install, calibrate, and set up exhaust gas emission measurement equipment and test cell transducers
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on laboratory equipment
  • Interpret and understand electrical and mechanical schematics and layouts
  • Document work performed and follow established safety procedures and regulations
  • Participate in daily kickoff meetings; collaborate with the team lead and other technicians to execute job assignments
  • Proactively identify equipment issues and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
  • Mentor less experienced technicians as needed


Requirements

  • Schedule: Initial onboarding: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM (approx. 1 month)
    Regular shift: Wednesday-Saturday, 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on electrical and/or mechanical experience in troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, procedures, and schematics
  • Comfortable working with high-voltage equipment (480VAC and 1000VDC) with knowledge of electrical safety techniques
  • Experience with calibration, instrumentation, or metrology preferred
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Prior exposure to emissions testing environments or laboratories is an asset
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass a required physical (FFW)


Education

  • High School Diploma required
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience in an electrical-related field preferred
  • Additional certifications in relevant areas are a plus
