Location: Milford, MI
Shift: 1st
Travel: 10%
Job Responsibilities
· Work in the Noise and Vibration / Chassis Dyno Lab, ensuring first-time quality and on-time delivery of test data across various test areas.
· Support engineering groups responsible for meeting federal and GM internal requirements.
· Plan, build, install, and teardown instrumentation for engineering tests.
· Set up and troubleshoot test automation systems and non-intrusive driving robots.
· Evaluate results and produce quality test data per Vehicle Technical Specifications (VTS) and federal regulations (GMW, NHTSA).
· Investigate and resolve mechanical/electrical operational issues on products and components.
· Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software problems with test equipment and vehicles.
· Schedule workload, equipment usage, and calibration.
· Install, remove, and monitor test vehicles.
· Operate vehicle communication tools (e.g., INCA, V-spy, General CAN, NeoVi).
Job Requirements
· Experience with instrumentation installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
· Valid driver's license.
· Excellent mechanical assembly and disassembly skills.
· Proficient with hand and air tools.
· Experience in data acquisition, review, and troubleshooting.
· Effective time management and ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work independently and in teams.
· Willingness to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers.
· Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
· Ability to handle basic project assignments with minimal supervision.
Education Requirements
· Minimum two-year associate degree in automotive technology or equivalent (ASE Master Mechanic with multiple years of dealership experience).
· 2-5 years of electrical and/or mechanical hands-on experience.
Preferred Skills
· Chassis dynamometer testing/lab experience.
· Familiarity with test automation systems.
· Experience with data acquisition systems.
