Hourly Pay Rate: $39-$43

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to provide technical leadership and design expertise for complex exterior automotive components and sub-systems.

Responsibilities

• Design highly complex components and simple sub-systems for exterior trim, bumpers, fascia, and grille
• Provide technical design leadership for major sub-systems
• Mentor, coach, and provide constructive performance feedback to other designers
• Facilitate clear communication and coordination between sub-system groups
• Verify quality and accuracy of design team outputs
• Lead and participate in design reviews
• Resolve technical design conflicts proactively
• Follow corporate standards and policies
• Assess buildability, manufacturability, and integration in collaboration with Lead Design Engineer and Design Managers
• Advise supervisors on project status, scheduling, resource availability, and capabilities
• Assist in establishing realistic design completion dates

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree with equivalent experience in Engineering or Design discipline
• Experience as a designer in Engineering or Design roles, specifically in exterior trim, bumper, fascia, and grille design commodity groups
• Advanced proficiency in Unigraphics (UG) software, including expert modeling techniques, simulation, and structural functionality
• Strong knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD), Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), part tolerancing, and math data management
• Excellent interpersonal and cross-functional teamwork skills, capable of working across cultural and organizational boundaries
• Strong written and oral communication skills to lead meetings and virtual events
• Ability to work independently while managing moderate direction from management
• Advanced problem-solving skills, including issue identification, root cause analysis, and solution generation for highly complex problems
• Working knowledge of global safety standards and SAE guidelines
• Familiarity with email communication tools (e.g., Yahoo, Lotus Notes)
