Hourly pay range $44-$46
Location: Dearborn, MI
Schedule: Hybrid - 4 days onsite (Mon-Thu)
Duration: Long-term contract
Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, validation, and release of electronic gear shift system components across global vehicle programs.
  • Own design and release of electronic shift system commodities.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, design studio, manufacturing, electrical architecture teams, and internal stakeholders to deliver best-in-class gear shifter components.
  • Manage commodities pre- and post-launch to support quality and manufacturing feasibility.
  • Create and maintain open issues lists; prioritize and track work plans.
  • Utilize program management tools (FEDE, JIRA, AIMS, WERS) to lead milestone deliverables.
  • Support program builds with hardware/software, change notices, and alerts.
  • Interpret hardware/software specifications; manage DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, SCCAFs, and Control Plans.
  • Drive issue resolution and support Total Value Management (TVM) initiatives.
  • Analyze performance data to improve reliability, durability, and cost efficiency.
  • Participate in sourcing processes and supplier negotiations.


Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 3+ years automotive engineering experience from early development through launch.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle systems and electronic/mechanical interfaces.
  • Electrical and mechanical hardware engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to interpret 2D/3D CAD drawings.
  • Familiarity with DFMEA, DVP&R, P-diagram, and supplier management.
  • Strong communication, organization, and program management skills.
  • Problem-solving expertise (8D, 5-Why, Six Sigma mindset).


Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Experience with PPAP, injection-molded components, and manufacturing quality documentation (PFMEA, control plans).
  • Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification.
  • Familiarity with TeamCenter, CATIA, Global Integrator, and Atlassian-JIRA.
  • Component testing experience (bench/dyno/vehicle).
  • Automotive software implementation experience.
  • Knowledge of AI tools and resources.


Technical Skills

  • Teamcenter, CAD (CATIA, SolidWorks), CAE concepts, WERS, Jira.
  • Program management and problem-solving methodologies (8D, Six Sigma, FMEA).
