Wire Harness Release Engineer

Our client has engaged us to assist them in hiring a contract Wire Harness Release Engineer. Hourly pay range $44 - $46/hr.
Responsibilities
- Manage DVP as per GPDS VPP timing
- Identify milestones and classify tests.
- Confirm component and System CAE Electrical and Mechanical (IPS) completion during DV audits.
- Generate DVP with inputs from Design and Release (D&R) engineers
- Propose test methods using benchmarking.
- Continuously identify and evaluate DV opportunities based on warranty/field findings.
- Lead DV testing activities with D&Rs and suppliers (EDS, plastics, metal brackets, etc.)
- Generate DV plans for cost reduction ideas as required.
- Perform engineering cost estimates for physical test plans.
- Define and request engineering prototype tests by build phase.
- Track closure of DVs as per DVP
- Ensure Technical Design Reviews (TDRs) occur and preparation meetings are scheduled between D&Rs and suppliers.
- Confirm all TDR checklist items are closed with sufficient evidence.
- Review and approve closure plans for red/yellow items through Milestone Management Reviews.
- Support Chief Attestation sign-off reviews.
- Confirm eCAR matrix assessment completion.
- Ensure HCA (Harness Complexity Analysis) is executed using Falcon and stored in WERS for every Notice Released.
- Review DCCS re-DV by DCR for design changes post FDJ.
- Review ACCS re-DV by DCR for alerts (post DCVs).
- Lead part ordering through RPS for DVP validation and sign-off.
- Raise issues in Ford systems per DVP review of non-compliant DVs.
- Support creation and upkeep of VOME SCCAF, supplier SCCAF & DFMEA.
- Review Change Point Analysis Worksheet (CPAW).
- Durability/VOCF vehicle testing review with D&Rs.
- PV review
- Support on-site evaluations in manufacturing and assembly plants to ensure DV & PV deliverables are completed.
- Quality
- Conduct quality history review with quality assurance team and TS.
- Lead lessons learned dashboard inputs, read-across, and track fix implementation for owned VLs.
- Support Campaign Prevent events; audit virtual design review closure from D&R side.
- Attend PRA/PAC forum and lead 3L5W Detection leg.
- Apply knowledge of Six Sigma and 8D methodologies.
Skills Required
- Design Release Engineer experience:
- Designing and releasing high-voltage wiring harnesses, including launch.
Skills Preferred
- CAD Design:
- 3DX experience a plus.
- CATIA/TeamCenter or other CAD experience considered.
Experience Required
- 5-10 years of wiring harness design and vehicle launch.
- Basic 3D CAD knowledge (3DX preferred, TeamCenter, CATIA).
- Ford GPDS knowledge and understanding.
- Experience with automotive PPAP process.
- Understanding of feature partitioning.
- Solid automotive engineering knowledge, especially in wiring harness design.
Experience Preferred
- Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics desired).
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
- Time and project management skills.
- Wiring harness manufacturing knowledge.
- Familiarity with manufacturing quality documentation (PFMEA, control plans, line flow charts).
- Component testing experience (bench/dyno/vehicle).
- Working knowledge of commercially available AI tools and resources.
Education
- Required: Bachelor's Degree.
- Preferred: Master's Degree.
