High Voltage Wiring Harness Design Release Engineer

Hourly pay range: $44-$46
Location: Dearborn, MI
Schedule: Hybrid (4 days per week onsite)
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, validation, and release of High Voltage (HV) wiring harnesses and associated components.
- Ensure compliance with program targets for cost, weight, quality, performance, and timing.
- Design and update HV wiring harnesses in 3DX/CATIA per Ford requirements and system schematics.
- Drive design improvements to enhance quality, reduce cost, and optimize weight.
- Apply Robustness Engineering disciplines (Quality History, P-Diagram, FMEA) to meet specifications.
- Lead Technical Design Reviews (TDRs) and present proposals to stakeholders.
- Manage part releases in FEDEBOM and WERS; support Change Control Meetings.
- Perform Harness Complexity Analysis and cost estimation.
- Define and verify prototype requirements at the part level.
- Develop and execute validation plans (DVP), including bench, vehicle integration, functional, performance, and safety testing for HV systems.
- Analyze test data and implement design improvements.
- Resolve issues during digital and build phases of product development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, battery, powertrain, controls, manufacturing, purchasing, quality).
- Manage supplier relationships for HV components and harnesses.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (ISO 26262, UL, SAE, IEC) and safety regulations.
- Support prototype and production builds, including quality issue resolution.
- Comply with GPDS deliverables and annual training requirements.
Job Requirements
- Design Release Engineer experience, including wiring harness design and validation testing plans.
- 5-10 years in HV wiring harness design and vehicle launch.
- Basic 3D CAD knowledge (3DX preferred; TeamCenter, CATIA acceptable).
- Ford GPDS knowledge and PPAP process understanding.
- Familiarity with automotive systems and feature partitioning.
Preferred Skills
- CAD design experience (3DX, CATIA, TeamCenter).
- Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics).
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
- Project/time management skills.
- Knowledge of wiring harness manufacturing and quality documentation (PFMEA, control plans).
- Component testing experience (bench/dyno/vehicle).
- Working knowledge of AI tools and resources.
Education
- Required: Bachelor's Degree
- Preferred: Engineering discipline
