Job Summary
We are seeking a Shift & Safety Coordinator to support vehicle testing activities based in Southeast Michigan. In this role, you will oversee the scheduling and safety of test drivers as they operate vehicles on public roads, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and test objectives. You will coordinate, train, and guide drivers while promoting a culture of safety and compliance in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create, update, and manage shift schedules for vehicle test drivers to meet project objectives
  • Meet with drivers daily before shifts to assess fitness to drive and communicate schedule or safety updates
  • Monitor road and weather conditions, adjusting schedules as necessary
  • Track and report near-miss incidents, analyze trends, and recommend route adjustments to reduce risk
  • Conduct and lead weekly driver safety meetings and trip kick-off meetings, including agenda creation and presentation preparation
  • Review in-car camera footage and provide safety coaching to drivers
  • Manage camera subscription services and hardware resources such as tablets, smartphones, and memory cards
  • Train new drivers on processes, safe driving practices, data entry tools (Lscreen database/TEAMS), and serve as primary driving instructor for licensing
  • Update and deliver safety training based on near-miss event observations
  • Book travel arrangements for drivers as required
  • Perform risk assessments for all driving routes and maintain accurate GPS-based routes
  • Support additional administrative duties as assigned


Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and a proven record of safe driving
  • Ability to demonstrate and instruct proper safe driving behavior
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills including meeting material preparation
  • Exceptional organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% (no remote work option)
