Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Project Controls Specialist - Cost Analyst to support project managers by providing comprehensive cost analyses and project controls expertise. This hybrid position requires regular onsite work in Charlotte, NC, with Wednesdays as a required in-office day and two additional in-office days of your choice each week. The successful candidate will manage project cost forecasts, perform variance and data analyses, generate reports, and support change control processes for a variety of projects, all with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and distribute regular project control reports (monthly, quarterly, ad-hoc), including data gathering, verification, validation, and thorough analysis
  • Track and manage changes to project cost baselines and scope, ensuring compliance with internal standards and relevant contracts
  • Support benchmarking and self-assessment activities to identify best practices and process improvement opportunities
  • Maintain and update project cost estimates, cash flow reports, and change control documentation to ensure alignment with project management standards
  • Collaborate with estimators to develop comprehensive project cost estimates
  • Actively participate in project teams, develop effective working relationships, and support issue resolution
  • Utilize advanced Excel skills and other project controls software to manage large, complex data sets
  • Conduct quarterly site visits as required, adhering to all appropriate safety procedures and wearing provided personal protective equipment


Requirements:

  • Advanced to expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience preparing and updating cost forecasts, reports, and analyses for projects
  • Working knowledge of project management and project controls concepts, including scheduling software and spreadsheets
  • Associate degree in Engineering, Project Management, Finance, or Business with at least 2 years of relevant experience OR High School Diploma/GED with at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Relevant certifications (Certified Associate of Project Management, Project Management Professional) are a plus


Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with project control platforms such as Business Objects, PowerPlan, Maximo, and EcoSys
  • Background in utility companies, large capital projects, or regulated environments
  • Knowledge of earned value management and risk program controls
  • Familiarity with project management frameworks and full project lifecycle
