Position Overview
The Manufacturing Engineer - Die Engineering / Die Process will support stamping feasibility, die process development, simulation, and manufacturing optimization for new and carryover parts. This role drives the "Voice of Manufacturing" throughout the product development cycle to ensure stamped panels meet quality, cost, and timing targets.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the Voice of Manufacturing throughout the product development lifecycle to ensure manufacturable and robust stamped panels.
  • Conduct early stamping feasibility studies and collaborate with product development and manufacturing teams to resolve manufacturability concerns.
  • Lead creation of draw die CAD developments and construction release files for new model stampings.
  • Update and maintain existing die process documentation, incorporating improvements, service adjustments, and carryover modifications for new model launch.
  • Develop optimized stamping die processes focused on cost, quality, and program timing.
  • Lead PFMEA development for new model stampings.
  • Support cost estimation activities, including generating cost requests and evaluating engineering proposals.
  • Perform draw and line die simulations to evaluate and optimize stamping formability.
  • Troubleshoot and refine stamping processes, working with product design and tool shops to resolve quality issues ahead of production launch.
  • Support die design and tooling issue resolution during tool construction.


Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field; or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience in Die Process, CAD Draw Development, Die Design, Die Construction, and/or Tryout.
  • Experience with stamping and machining processes.
  • Ability to conduct early stamping process feasibility assessments within an integrated CAD/CAE environment.
  • Experience performing stamping simulations for formability and dimensional evaluation.
  • Ability to support die design groups with technical input.
  • Proficiency with at least one stamping simulation software: Dyna, AutoForm, or ESI PamStamp.
  • Practical CAD experience; CATIA V5 and TeamCenter highly preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.


Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Tool & Die Journeyman's Card.
  • 5+ years of automotive manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to support die tryout, including diagnosing stamping dimensional errors and recommending corrections.
  • Strong self-starter with the ability to work independently and meet objectives with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with planning, implementing, and launching manufacturing systems on-site.
  • Proficiency in GD&T, part fixturing, datum strategy, and tolerance stack-ups.
