Data Scientist I - Data Science & Machine Learning
Bartech Staffing is proud to partner with a leader in the Agricultural Industry who is accepting applications for a Data Scientist. This is a contractual opportunity, onsite in the Austin, TX area
Hourly Pay Range $55/hr. - $60/hr. (W2)
Responsibilities
- Communicate findings, methodologies, and insights to stakeholders across diverse technical and non technical backgrounds with clarity and impact.
- Work with high resolution machine, sensor, and agronomic datasets to build, train, and test predictive models.
- Develop and deliver production ready machine learning solutions that extract insights and generate recommendations from precision agriculture data.
- Define, quantify, and analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that measure successful customer outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with Data Engineering teams to ensure data is efficiently stored, structured, and accessible for analytics and model development.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated competency developing production ready models using an object oriented programming language such as Python.
- Proficiency with data access and processing technologies, including SQL, Spark, and Databricks, for querying, transforming, and analyzing large scale datasets.
- Experience creating clear, actionable data visualizations using tools such as Tableau, Kepler.gl, or QGIS (e.g., dashboards, interactive maps, spatial visual outputs).
- Familiarity with data modeling practices including normalization, data quality assessment, attribute analysis, and performance management.
- Experience building machine learning models such as regression, supervised and unsupervised learning, probabilistic inference, and natural language modeling.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to lead meetings, document work for reproducibility, write persuasively, and present proof of concepts effectively.
- Experience with model validation techniques including measuring bias, drift, and model performance over time.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with geospatial data search and analysis, geo indexing, and vector/raster data structures.
- Experience with remote sensing, GIS workflows, or satellite imagery analysis.
- Hands on experience with computer vision, including object detection and segmentation; familiarity with models such as Segment Anything (SAM).
- Agentic/Tool using AI systems
- Additional programming experience (Java, JavaScript, Scala, etc.).
Education
Master's or PhD strongly preferred in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, Agronomy, or a related quantitative field.
