Group Leader - Paint Production (On-Site)

Location: Wentzville, MO
Hourly Pay Rate: $40/hour

Our client has engaged us to assist them in hiring a contract Group Leader - Paint Production. Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise 12-18 UAW hourly employees within the Paint Production Department.
  • Ensure the safety, quality, and throughput of all employees and processes on the paint line.
  • Monitor job station performance, ensure compliance with work instructions, and support continuous quality improvement.
  • Maintain consistent production flow and troubleshoot issues impacting quality or productivity.
  • Manage timekeeping and pay for hourly employees using Kronos.
  • Handle training documentation, attendance, and administrative tasks requiring strong organizational skills.
  • Communicate shift concerns, production status, and quality updates during hand-offs.
  • Address employee conflict, performance challenges, and workplace issues professionally and promptly.
  • Work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts as assigned; rotate and provide coverage based on vacations, leaves, and production needs.
  • Participate in structuredonboarding:
    • Shadow Group Leaders on 1st and 2nd shift for several weeks
    • Move to 3rd shift to shadow the Business Manager
  • Collaborate with other departments approximately 25% of the time (more during training).
  • Stand/walk on the production floor approximately 90% of the shift.
  • Maintain a strong presence on the floor as this is not a desk role.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1-5 years of manufacturing or leadership experience preferred (experience not mandatory).
  • Stable work history (not job-hoppy).
  • Strong communication and organizational skills to manage complex, time-sensitive tasks.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities independently without needing direction.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort addressing employee issues.
  • Ability to work all three shifts, including mandatory rotational Saturdays (2 on, 1 off).
  • Must be comfortable leading teams and speaking up in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to team success.
  • Must be on-site; no remote work available.
