Maintenance Group Leader

Pay Rate: $30-$33/hour
Shift: Must be flexible to work any assigned shift
Shift & Schedule Details
- Training: Approximately 1 month on day shift, 5 days per week
- Post‑Training: Transition to3rd shift
- Shifts include 6:00 AM-3:00 PM and 11:00 PM-7:00 AM
- Schedule After Training:
- 7 days per week
- Rotating schedule: Two weeks on / one week off (continuous)
- Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
Preferred Background:
- Trades or maintenance leadership experience
- Union environment experience is a plus
Position Summary
The Maintenance Group Leader / Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading the maintenance function within a manufacturing environment by establishing, implementing, and maintaining both short‑ and long‑range plans to improve maintenance activities. This role provides technical support to manufacturing departments while ensuring effective use of personnel, materials, and equipment to support Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, and Cost (SPQRC/SPQRCE) initiatives.
The position leads a small to medium team of skilled trades and maintenance employees and exercises independent judgment within established procedures and GMS principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise maintenance personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality execution of work
- Implement and actively support corporate safety policies, initiatives, and housekeeping standards
- Diagnose equipment malfunctions, determine root causes, and initiate immediate and long‑term corrective actions
- Plan, implement, and oversee preventive and planned maintenance activities
- Supervise construction and maintenance projects
- Establish action plans to complete work assignments within budget, manpower, and timing constraints
- Conduct inspections, checks, and tests; evaluate results and communicate findings
- Recommend solutions and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with divisional and corporate policies, safety standards, and labor agreements
- Maintain schedule and quality requirements
- Optimize the use of personnel, materials, and equipment
- Initiate and maintain collaboration with internal and external teams to resolve issues
- Support manufacturing operations in achieving SPQRC goals

Expertise & Technical Knowledge
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
- Experience supporting machine, assembly, and/or facility maintenance areas
- Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
- Knowledge of tooling, manufacturing, and assembly processes
- Understanding of safe industrial work environments and safety systems
- Knowledge of basic math, including trigonometry
- Experience supervising a multi‑trade workforce
- Familiarity with clerical work, data gathering, and machine studies
Skills & Competencies
- High level of analytical ability to solve complex problems
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and lead teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

- Experience using Lotus Notes or other email communication tools

Education & Experience
- Associate degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred
- Skilled trades training or equivalent technical training required
- 2-4 years of related maintenance or supervisory experience required
