Position Summary
The Lead DC Power Technician is a senior field technician responsible for installing, upgrading, and maintaining DC power systems in telecom, central office, data center, and customer-site environments. This person will lead crews in the field while remaining hands-on with rectifiers, battery plants, cabling, grounding, terminations, and related distribution equipment. The ideal candidate has strong DC power installation experience, can read electrical diagrams, and is comfortable working in active jobsite environments with minimal oversight.
Must-Haves
- 4+ years of hands-on DC power installation experience in telecom, central office, data center, or critical infrastructure environments
- Experience installing and upgrading rectifiers, battery plants, and DC distribution equipment such as BDFBs, BDCBBs, PBDs, etc.
- Experience running, lacing, terminating, grounding, and testing power cable
- Prior experience leading crews or serving as a lead technician on DC power projects
- Willingness to travel and work in active construction, ladder, confined-space, and customer-site environments
Preferred
- UPS installation and maintenance experience
- Experience with VRLA, wet cell, and NiCAD battery systems
- Experience using battery and UPS testing tools
- Experience working in telecom central offices or similar critical power environments
Daily Responsibilities
- Lead installation, upgrade, replacement, and removal of DC power systems, rectifiers, UPS units, and battery plants
- Direct and perform hands-on work involving cabling, lacing, terminations, grounding, alarms, and associated DC power field tasks
- Install ironwork and cable racks in accordance with project and structural requirements
- Troubleshoot, test, and inspect DC power systems to ensure safety, quality, and performance standards are met
- Perform scheduled maintenance based on customer and internal guidelines
- Train and mentor technicians on installation standards, safety protocols, and field best practices
- Estimate, requisition, verify, and track materials needed for DC power jobs
- Interface with customers and field representatives to confirm scope, review progress, and ensure work is completed to spec
Travel / Per Diem
- Travel outside the market may be required depending on project needs
- Daily per diem is provided when traveling more than 65 miles, at $130/day, with additional mileage reimbursement
