Maintenance Supervisor - General (Afternoon Shift)
Location: Wayne, MI
Duration: Contractual (Long Term)
Shift: Afternoon (2:30 PM - 11:30 PM)
Hourly Rate Range: $35 - $37 per hour (W2)
As a Maintenance Supervisor you will support operations at the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, MI. This role serves as a Plant Engineering Process Coach, responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production through strong leadership, effective maintenance execution, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support daily maintenance operations to ensure production equipment runs safely, efficiently, and at required rates
- Apply and reinforce standard manufacturing operating systems
- Assign skilled trades and engineering resources to maintain continuous equipment operation
- Participate in manufacturing operations system (MOS) meetings and develop equipment failure documentation (Maximo 4Ds)
- Develop, review, and improve preventive maintenance (PM) job plans and spare parts strategies
- Coordinate resources and activities to support problem-free equipment startup and shift transitions
- Facilitate startup and shift-to-shift meetings
- Conduct constraint analysis and coordinate efforts to eliminate bottlenecks
- Monitor and improve equipment efficiency to maximize productivity
- Review and approve PM activities and ensure parts availability
- Drive safety, quality, delivery, cost, people, morale, and environment (SQDCPME) continuous improvement processes
- Ensure compliance with all government and industry safety and quality standards
- Build Team Leader and Team Member capability through coaching, communication, and recognition
- Foster a positive, accountable, and results-oriented work environment
Required Skills
- Siemens systems
- Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
- Electrical Engineering fundamentals
- 3D modeling experience
Required Experience
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Proven experience supervising or leading a unionized hourly workforce
- Strong organizational, administrative, and multitasking skills
- Strong problem-solving and conflict leadership capabilities
- Demonstrated leadership behaviors with strong interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred Experience
- 3-5 years of automotive manufacturing experience
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and constraint management principles
- Safety and quality leadership experience
- Experience managing maintenance operations in a production environment
- Fundamental knowledge of PLC logic and controls
- Working knowledge of Maximo and FIS systems
- Experience supporting both production and maintenance operations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred: Associate Degree
