Powertrain Test Technician

Hourly pay rate: $35.62
Job Responsibilities
- Provide support for test vehicle fleets, including updates, maintenance, safety inspections, and installation/removal of instrumentation
- Coordinate builds, preparation, instrumentation installation, and maintenance of single-cylinder and multi-cylinder engines and after-treatment systems
- Work with engineers and designers to complete designs, detailed prints, and order prototypes for engine electrical and after-treatment subsystems in support of powertrain system testing in test cells and vehicles
- Manage all aspects of the prototype procurement process, including creating bills of materials, pulling part numbers, providing required documentation to purchasing, supporting prototype suppliers, and coordinating receiving, invoicing, and storage
- Coordinate test vehicle fleet activities, including procurement, transfers, and bailments for supplier-led testing
- Diagnose issues, suggest fixes, and direct rework or updates on prototype test vehicles, engines, after-treatment systems, and prototype parts to minimize downtime and delays
- Create custom wiring harnesses as required
- Review engine and vehicle test data to ensure proper functioning of new designs and hardware
- Perform data collection using calibration tools on defined test plans
- Handle catalyst aging activities, including submission and tracking of catalyst aging requests
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience in engine and vehicle development and testing
- Diesel engine experience preferred
- Valid driver's license
- Proficiency with personal computer systems, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Preferred Experience:
- Experience using calibration tools such as ATI, ETAS, PTDIAG, or similar
- Basic automotive mechanical skills, including powertrain electrical and vehicle systems
- Experience with engine and after-treatment build processes, test cell setup, and troubleshooting
- Self-motivated, team-oriented, and able to support travel and overtime as required
