Our client has engaged Bartech Staffing to assist in hiring a Quality / Reliability Engineer - Body for a fully onsite contract role in Wayne, Michigan. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams while serving as a key quality leader within an assembly plant environment.
Position Description
The Quality / Reliability Engineer - Body is part of a Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) and is co-located within the Vehicle Assembly Plant with the vehicle production team. This role serves as the first line of defense for functional system quality related to vehicles produced at the plant.
The engineer is responsible for analyzing and resolving quality concerns involving components shipped into the assembly plant, internal plant processes, and integrated remote build centers. The role works closely with Body Exterior engineering teams to deliver quality objectives, with a strong focus on Body Exterior Trim, Decals, Bumpers, Latches, and Sealing systems.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as primary plant-level quality support for body-related systems
- Analyze and resolve quality issues related to incoming components and in-plant processes
- Conduct daily reviews of incoming warranty claims data
- Review customer and dealership comments and accurately bin claims
- Contact dealerships to obtain parts and clarify repair diagnostics
- Participate in customer call-backs to ensure clear understanding of customer feedback
- Review returned parts and perform root cause analysis
- Develop and implement Interim Containment Actions (ICA) and Permanent Corrective Actions (PCA)
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program teams to meet quality objectives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited 4-year program
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Product Development, Quality, Program, and/or Manufacturing environments
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills
- Ability to work fully onsite in a manufacturing/assembly plant environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a Design Release Engineer
- Ability to use WERS or similar release tools
- Six Sigma Black Belt training
- Master's degree
