Job Responsibilities:
Pay rate: $42.00 - $44.00 hr.
We are seeking an experienced Structural CAE Engineer to lead the analysis and development of high-voltage battery internals and related structural systems using advanced CAE tools. In this role, you will collaborate closely with battery design and release engineers to support cutting-edge battery technologies, ensuring structural integrity and performance within defined operating conditions.
As a key member of the Global Electrified Powertrain Engineering team, you will work cross-functionally with stakeholders to drive innovation and deliver robust engineering solutions. This team is focused on advancing battery architecture through strong collaboration with global suppliers and by leveraging best-in-class simulation methodologies to shape the future of mobility.
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures.
- Basic math skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Understanding of fundamental technologies used in assigned work areas.
- Familiarity with scheduling systems and other operational management tools.
- Strong analytical abilities to solve complex problems.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate, influence, and effectively collaborate with employees.
- Knowledge of quality control processes and standards.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in structural components and engineering design.
Critical Technical Expertise (Required):
- Candidates must have strong hands-on expertise in the following tools, as they are core to success in this role:
- ABAQUS (advanced structural simulation, non-linear analysis)
- HyperMesh / HyperView (pre- and post-processing, meshing)
- nCode or fe-safe (fatigue and durability analysis)
- 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX) platform
Preferred Experience:
- 5+ years of CAE structural modeling and simulation experience, including complex non-linear analysis and solution methodology selection.
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Working experience with tools such as OptiStruct, ANSYS, Abaqus Viewer, and Teamcenter.
- Proven expertise in fatigue analysis tools (e.g., nCode, fe-safe, FEMFAT).
- Strong background in correlating CAE models with physical test data, including sensitivity studies and model calibration.
- Deep knowledge of structural materials, including high-strength materials, fracture mechanics, and crack initiation/propagation.
- Experience with pre-processing (HyperMesh) and solving/post-processing using ABAQUS, Nastran, or equivalent tools.
- Proficiency in Python scripting for ABAQUS (automation and advanced analysis workflows).
- Familiarity with thermal-mechanical coupled analysis and temperature-dependent material behavior.
- Knowledge of optimization tools such as modeFRONTIER, HEEDS, Tosca, or iSight.
- Experience with physical testing and validation.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
