RESPONSIBILITIES

• As a Backend Software Engineer on the AirCover Claims Platform team, you will be a key contributor in shaping and building experiences for AirCover for Hosts, which ensures hosts receive fast, fair, and reliable support whenever a reservation doesn't go as planned. You'll collaborate closely with Product, Data Science, and Operations to design, build, and maintain the backend services that power our next generation of claim experiences.
• Design and implement clear, scalable APIs and backend services that power core claim workflows
• Partner cross-functionally with Product, Operations, Data Science, and Engineering teams to define requirements, develop technical designs, and deliver high-quality features from concept to production
• Write clean, well-tested code and contribute to a culture of engineering excellence through thoughtful code reviews and shared best practices
• Instrument and monitor services to ensure reliability, performance, and observability in production

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related
• 5+ years of backend software development experience
• Proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Kotlin, Java, or Python
• Strong understanding of microservices and Kubernetes with experience working on APIs and end-to-end development from developing to testing
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing high-throughput APIs, data pipelines, and distributed systems
• Comfort working across the backend stack to diagnose and solve complex technical challenges
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; adept at collaborating in design discussions, working sessions, and code reviews
