Our client has engaged us to assist them in hiring a contract Automotive Maintenance Technician (Oshawa, Ontario). Hourly pay range $ 33.00 - $35.00
On site - M-F 7 AM to 3:30 PM


RESPONSIBILITIES

Service customers on engineering teams, retrofit teams, Marketing/PR teams and the Company's Canada fleet. Automotive technician repairs, instrumentation/testing of development vehicles and providing mechanical leadership to new innovations.

The technician supports Company's owned and development vehicles within the Product Assurance Garage, performing a wide range of mechanical, electrical, diagnostic, and maintenance activities across diverse vehicle architectures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Perform diagnostic tests and inspections to identify mechanical and electrical issues
* Repair and replace components including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and related vehicle systems
* Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, inspections, and component replacements
* Utilize specialized tools and diagnostic equipment to complete repairs and adjustments
* Follow GM and manufacturer procedures, specifications, and safety requirements
* Document repairs, maintenance actions, and parts usage accurately
* Communicate vehicle status, findings, and recommendations to internal stakeholders
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
* Collaborate with other technicians, engineers, and support staff to ensure efficient workflow
* Stay current with evolving automotive technologies and service practices

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma with 5+ years of automotive technician experience
  • Valid 310S Ontario Technician License
  • Valid driver's license with clean record
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting capability
  • Proven experience using diagnostic tools and specialized automotive equipment
  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced, variable work environment
  • Comfort operating across multiple vehicle platforms and technologies
  • Strong attention to documentation, quality, and safety compliance
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new automotive technologies

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency with GlobalConnect, MDI, and Company's diagnostic tools
  • Experience with vehicle instrumentation and sensors
  • Qualifications include EV capabilities and electrical/mechanical innovation support
  • This role supports a broad range of work types, with job scope varying day to day based on engineering and fleet needs.
