Job Title: Maintenance Group Leader
Location: Onsite- Bay City Michigan
Schedule: 2nd or 3rd Shift (must be flexible)
Duration: 12-month contract (possible extension)
Pay: $42-55/hr depending on years of hands on experience
Start: ASAP
Overview
We are seeking a Maintenance Group Leader to support a high-volume manufacturing environment. In this role, you will lead a team of skilled trades employees responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving complex equipment and production processes.
This is a hands-on leadership role that blends technical expertise, team supervision, and problem-solving in a fast-paced setting. You will play a key role in supporting advanced manufacturing initiatives, including next-generation vehicle technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support skilled trades employees in troubleshooting and repairing equipment
- Ensure production equipment and processes operate safely and efficiently
- Lead day-to-day maintenance activities in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Adjust manpower and respond quickly to production issues
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams
- Interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics to support troubleshooting
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, and productivity
- Support labor time studies and process optimization activities
- Work closely with technicians and leadership to validate and improve service procedures
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 1+ year of direct supervisory or team leadership experience
- Experience in a manufacturing environment (automotive preferred)
- Strong problem-solving skills in fast-paced production settings
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic blueprints
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
- High level of integrity, accountability, and adaptability
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in union environments
- Exposure to high-volume production and continuous improvement processes
- Experience supporting labor time studies or process documentation
Schedule & Work Environment
- Must be open to 2nd and 3rd shift
- 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
- 3rd Shift: 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM (starting Sunday night)
- Must arrive 30 minutes before shift and stay 30 minutes after
- Weekend work required
- May work 2-3 consecutive weekends before receiving time off
