Location: Sterling Heights, MI (Onsite)
Pay: $44-$46/hr
Duration: Long-Term Contract

Position Overview
The Manufacturing Process Engineer will support Axle Assembly operations by driving continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity. This role focuses on optimizing manufacturing processes, leading equipment-related projects, and ensuring adherence to Powertrain Operations standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support manufacturing process engineering activities for axle assembly operations
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in safety, quality, and productivity
  • Apply engineering and analytical methods to develop and optimize manufacturing processes
  • Lead equipment delivery, installation, and commissioning projects
  • Conduct process audits to ensure compliance with Powertrain Operations standards
  • Perform ergonomic assessments and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Analyze carrier inventory issues, perform root cause analysis, and reduce rejects
  • Develop and maintain process documentation and standardized work instructions
  • Ensure capable and efficient assembly processes and tooling
  • Lead resolution of machining-related issues and drive variability reduction initiatives
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement best practices
  • Ensure compliance with plant, corporate, environmental, and governmental standards
  • Identify throughput constraints and drive improvements to meet production targets


Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience with process validation
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and communication skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with assembly line operations, preferably in automotive components (axles or similar)
  • Background in Lean Six Sigma methodologies
  • Experience with PPAP, FMEA, DOE, and capability studies (Gauge R&R)
  • Project management and equipment delivery experience
  • Knowledge of visual factory management and ergonomic analysis


Education

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
