Warehouse Supervisor (2nd Shift)


Location: Manufacturing/Warehouse Environment
Shift: Preferred Schedule: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM


Position Summary


The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for leading warehouse employees and overseeing daily operations to achieve business objectives related to safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, and responsiveness. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and employee engagement skills to drive operational excellence while maintaining compliance with company policies and contractual requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide coaching, counseling, and support to hourly employees regarding workplace needs and concerns.
  • Manage employee performance by recognizing positive behaviors and addressing performance issues as appropriate.
  • Utilize the Quality Network problem-solving process to identify opportunities for improvement and engage employees in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Implement Workplace Organization (WPO) principles to improve workflow, efficiency, and facility layout.
  • Maintain and update the Timekeeping System (TKS) daily to ensure accurate payroll processing.
  • Document problem-solving activities using the A3 reporting format and adhere to local A3 guidelines.
  • Conduct daily team meetings to communicate operational performance and encourage two-way employee communication.
  • Perform and document weekly safety observation tours to ensure compliance with workplace safety standards.
  • Plan and coordinate daily workloads to support operational goals.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and colleagues to optimize shift performance and productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with national and local contractual requirements.
  • Enforce company policies, procedures, and shop rules.
  • Conduct daily Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) audits.
  • Support professional growth through the Individual Development Plan (IDP) process.
  • Keep the General Supervisor and Shop Committee informed of ongoing and upcoming activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Knowledge of manufacturing and warehouse operations, processes, and procedures.
  • Understanding of quality control standards and procedures.
  • Familiarity with scheduling systems, workforce management tools, and timekeeping applications.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Working knowledge of the technology and equipment used within the assigned area.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly in complex operational environments.

Leadership & Communication Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate employees, build relationships, and drive performance.
  • Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of technical school, business school, skilled trades training, or equivalent technical education.
  • 10+ years of related manufacturing, warehouse, logistics, or supervisory experience required.
  • Previous experience leading hourly employees in a unionized manufacturing environment is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with:
    • Quality Network problem-solving methodologies
    • Workplace Organization (WPO) practices
    • A3 reporting
    • Timekeeping System (TKS)
    • Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) audits
    • Continuous improvement initiatives
  • Strong understanding of labor relations and contractual compliance requirements.
