Warranty Engineer


Location: Auburn Hills, MI
Department: North America Quality - Field Quality & Control Tower (FQCT)

Position Overview


The North America Quality organization is seeking a Warranty Engineer to join the Field Quality & Control Tower Team (FQCT) at the Headquarters & Technical Center in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
This role will support warranty issue resolution, quality investigations, and cross-functional project coordination across multiple vehicle systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive product engineering, testing, validation, and root cause analysis. Opportunities are available within the Propulsion Systems Group, supporting:

  • HVAC Systems
  • Cooling Systems
  • Intake & Exhaust Systems

Key Responsibilities

Warranty & Quality Resolution

  • Lead the investigation and resolution of warranty-related issues.
  • Drive structured problem-solving activities, including root cause analysis, validation, and corrective actions.
  • Track and communicate weekly project status and progress updates.
  • Establish and validate containment actions and permanent corrective measures.

Triage & Field Quality Support

  • Review and analyze warranty claims data.
  • Sort and categorize claims for investigation and prioritization.
  • Coordinate vehicle reviews with dealerships and field teams.
  • Support supplier and Stellantis reviews at Quality Engineering Centers and manufacturing facilities.

Project Coordination

  • Facilitate cross-functional project meetings involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, agendas, meeting minutes, and status reports.
  • Identify and analyze system requirements and project deliverables.
  • Coordinate communication between engineering, quality, manufacturing, and supplier teams.

Manufacturing & Supplier Quality

  • Review product and process changes at manufacturing and supplier locations.
  • Analyze internal quality metrics and performance indicators.
  • Support control plan updates and implementation of quality improvements.
  • Validate corrective actions through on-site reviews and testing.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline from an accredited university.
  • 5+ years of Product Engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of testing, validation, or test method development experience.
  • Experience with:
    • Fixture design
    • Instrumentation
    • Data acquisition systems
    • Product validation testing
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Solid understanding of automotive systems and product development processes.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Experience working with or supporting unionized manufacturing operations.
  • Proficiency in:
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Microsoft Project
    • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of Teamcenter.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • Shainin Red X Black Belt Certification.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification.
  • Kepner-Tregoe Problem Solving Methodology.
  • Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) experience.
  • Project Management experience or certification.
