Quality Engineer

Position Summary


The Mopar Quality Engineer is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and resolving product quality issues while driving continuous improvements in vehicle reliability, customer satisfaction, and warranty performance. This individual will serve as a key liaison between Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Suppliers, Service Operations, and Dealer Networks to ensure product quality throughout the vehicle lifecycle.
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with strong technical expertise in automotive engineering, quality systems, manufacturing processes, and service operations. This role requires the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, analyze complex data, influence stakeholders, and implement effective corrective actions.
Work Arrangement: Onsite, 5 days per week


Key Focus Areas

  • Field failure analysis, quality monitoring, and warranty cost reduction
  • Production part change assessments and service parts impact analysis
  • Supplier manufacturing and remanufacturing process improvements
  • Dealer process issue identification and corrective action development
  • Root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
  • Product quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction improvement
  • Cross-functional collaboration and technical communication

Key Responsibilities

Quality Monitoring & Issue Resolution

  • Monitor field quality, warranty, and customer feedback data to identify emerging concerns.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions with Engineering, Manufacturing, Dealer Networks, Distribution, and Service Operations.
  • Analyze field failures and warranty trends to identify opportunities for quality improvement and warranty cost reduction.
  • Develop data-driven recommendations to improve product reliability and customer satisfaction.

Technical Documentation & Communication

  • Create, review, and publish technical service documentation, including:
    • Field Service Instructions (FSIs)
    • Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs)
    • STAR Online communications
    • Master Technician publications
  • Communicate quality concerns and corrective actions to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships across multiple functional areas.

Product Development & Service Support

  • Evaluate production part changes and assess impacts on service parts, field performance, and customer experience.
  • Support the transfer of technical product knowledge between Engineering and Service organizations.
  • Collaborate with Product Design, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Inventory Control, Program Management, and Service teams to resolve field issues.

Supplier Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure manufacturing process compliance and product quality.
  • Lead supplier quality improvement initiatives and corrective action activities.
  • Recommend, implement, and validate process improvements at supplier manufacturing and remanufacturing facilities.
  • Drive defect reduction and process optimization through structured problem-solving methodologies.

Project Management

  • Plan, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Balance technical requirements, business objectives, project timelines, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts across quality, manufacturing, and service operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university or equivalent technical experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Product Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related automotive experience.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive system and component design, development, manufacturing, and reliability.
  • Experience with structured problem-solving methodologies such as:
    • 5 Why Analysis
    • Fishbone (Ishikawa) Diagrams
    • Red X Methodology
    • Other root cause analysis techniques
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret quality, warranty, and field performance data.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Ability to travel domestically as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Quality, Business, or a related technical discipline.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of direct manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of Design Release Engineering experience.
  • Proven success improving product quality, customer satisfaction, and warranty performance.
  • Experience working within Stellantis systems, processes, and cross-functional operations.
  • Strong background in:
    • Warranty analytics
    • Field quality monitoring
    • Corrective action development
    • Product reliability improvement
    • Warranty cost reduction
  • Experience with automotive quality tools and systems including:
    • APQP
    • PPAP
    • FMEA
    • Control Plans
    • SPC
    • IATF 16949
  • Ability to analyze large datasets, identify trends, quantify business impact, and make data-driven recommendations.
